Supporting our local community
We established The Inner North Community Foundation (the Foundation) in 2007 with support from Darebin, Merri-bek and Yarra City Councils as a means of giving back to our local community in Melbourne.
The Foundation’s mission is to boost economic participation, strengthen local networks and promote social inclusion through partnerships and philanthropy. The Foundation is committed to supporting the charities, service providers and community groups who enable and support a harmonious and prosperous Inner North.
To achieve the Foundation’s vision, we:
- Invest in local not-for-profit organisations through grants and other support
- Connect donors to local community groups and manage a donor network where people can contribute small and large donations
- Build partnerships to expand community leadership across our region
Making a difference since 2007
Since its opening, the Foundation has distributed over $5.7 million to more than 250 community groups, and ultimately, supported thousands of individuals across Darebin, Merri-bek and Yarra City Councils.
$12.8 million in donations have been received, with $10.2 million in funds under management.
IntoWork has funded the Pathways to Employment Fund since 2007 – one of 36 independent funds held by the Foundation. In 2022, the Pathways to Employment grants directly supported over 825 people on their employment journeys through 10 projects with leading community organisations.
In 2021, we reaffirmed our partnership with the Foundation by committing to a $200,000 annual contribution to this fund for the next 30 years. We contribute towards the core operating costs of the Foundation.
